Background

The Robot Center was founded as part of the former MIUC (Minimally Invasive Development Center) in 2006, with the possibility of robotic surgical training starting in 2010. Since 2018, the Robot Center has existed as an independent entity under the name ROCnord.

The center is certified as an educational center by the European Association of Urology (EAU) and is thus included as a "Host centre" in the European robotic surgical curriculum in urology.

ROCnord is physically located in the Biomedical Research Laboratory and has a Da Vinci Xi surgical robot for training purposes. The available facilities allow for both "dry" and "wetlab" training scenarios. Close collaboration with the Biomedical Research Laboratory enables robotic surgical training on various animal models, including live anesthetized pigs.

ROCnord offers a wide range of courses for both doctors and nurses from both domestic and international locations. Additionally, all medical students in the northern region are introduced to robotic surgery during their "boot camp" at the beginning of their graduate studies.

In addition to a strong focus on providing courses for education in robotic surgery, ROCnord also emphasizes clinical work with robotic surgery and conducts research in the field of robotic surgery.
